Frozen dog treats can be a way of keeping cool in the sweltering Florida heat. We often reach for a bowl of ice cream, or maybe even a popsicle or two, but what about our dogs? They enjoy a frozen treat now and again, too! Summer is not quite over yet folks so how about a few home-made frozen treats for man’s best friend? Your dogs are sure to love these quick and easy DIY recipes and so will you!
Frozen Dog Treats!
Banana Peanut Butter Pupsicles
Blend the following ingredients then, scoop into an ice cube try. Freeze for about 3 hours, pop out of the ice try and store these pupsicles in the freezer in an air-tight container or freezer bag.
- One banana
- 2 ½ tablespoons of your dog’s favorite peanut butter
- 1 ½ tablespoons of honey
Apple & Honey Pupsicles
Using these ingredients, follow the same directions as above but this time, no need to bring out the blender!
- 1/3 cup of applesauce (no sugar added)
- 2 ½ tablespoons of honey
- 2 ½ tablespoons of peanut butter
- 1 ½ cups of non-fat plain yogurt
Beat the Heat Frozen Parsley Dog Breath Mint Treats
Does your dog have a little bit of bad breath? Well, why not kill two birds with one stone. These next treats will not only keep your dog cool but also curb his case of halitosis.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 cup of water
- 2 sprigs of fresh parsley leaves
- 2 sprigs of fresh mint leaves
- 1 Granny Smith apple
Follow these simple directions:
- Peel and core the apple.
- Put the cored apple in blender and add water. Blend until smooth.
- Add parsley and mint. Pulse instead of blend.
- Pour into ice cube tray and freeze overnight.
